Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate,

Above is a excellent quote by Marianne Williamson. It is important to know that fear is not an ingredient in success. In order to meet our goals, fulfill our dreams and continue to grow one must be a risk taker. Risk taking sounds intense...but not so much. We take risks when we say hello first, when we smile at a stranger and when we admit our needs. When I say hello first to a person I run the risk of them ignoring my greeting. When I smile at a stranger I may not get the response that I would normally welcome (since I don't know that person). When I admit to a person that I have a need I am making myself vulnerable. So why do these things? Why not play it safe? If I choose to withhold a greeting-I may also be withholding an opportunity that would likely develop after I have said hello. Smiling at a stranger could develop dialogue that could be helpful to my business and/or personal life or it could make that person feel better about their own life. When I admit I have a need...I give someone an opportunity to fill that need for me. We are not inadequate...we are powerful beyond measure. Be fearless today!! My next writing workshop is this Saturday at the Hampton Inn, Northville (20600 Haggerty Road) 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. I hope to see you there!

TAKE NOTE OF THE REWARDS

I have found that it is easier to acknowledge the tough times in life than to celebrate the great times. A gratitude journal is a great way to practice your writing, journal daily and to note the rewards that are in your life! Many days may pass without appreciation of the small blessings. Did a child smile at you today? Did someone buy you lunch? Do you have a job? Be grateful! It is easier to be appreciative when you write it down. This book of happiness will also be helpful when you are having tough times...because you can turn to it and see that things may be going better than you think.

As always be grateful and

We all live with the objective of being happy; our lives are all different and yet the same.-Anne Frank

Readers,
I am so excited about the upcoming "Walk for Diversity" being sponsored by the Michigan Roundtable For Diversity & Inclusion! I am a Walk Team Captain for this event. My Team is the "Who I Am" Team. My team will fund raise to help Middle School and High school students that are involved in the Program Linc (Leaders In The New Century) be leaders of diversity and change in their schools and communities. The Linc Program allows students to go to Camp Crosstown where they learn about young people on a deeper level and understand people who may be different from themselves. They are also able to garner scholarships by engaging change and creatively helping their schools to be more accepting and unified. I wrote the book "Who I Am Not What I Am" to help children understand diversity early and to feel great about themselves. I believe that this walk will be a great way to drive home the message of diversity & Inclusion! The T-Shirts that our team will wear are available for purchase on this page using the PayPal method. My goal is to unify people through books, workshops, walks and more. How will you unify your community? School? Family? People can make the world a better place in a variety of ways...use your talents for the good!

NETWORKS DAY AND MORE...

I had the pleasure of hosting a "Networks Day Event" for the Society Of Children's Book Writer's & Illustrators. The day included chats about our favorite children's book authors, presentations of upcoming projects from the participants, networking and just plain fun in the spirit of Children's lit. Roland Hansen shared his mission and goal behind several of his published books. "Tim The Cat" is a book that Roland wrote and it is the first in his collection of Children's books that are designed to promote good moral values, ethical behavior, compassion and acceptance. He has sent copies of his books to children across the country and has had his books translated to meet their needs. My next event is Spring Wellness Self-Improvement Day which will be held in Northville, MI. This event includes fun mini-workshops, food, raffles and more! This is great for the whole family and is free to attend. Hope to see you there!

books and covers

Many people have heard the saying "Don't judge a book by it's cover". I agree with this statement yet sometimes a cover can draw me to read the prologue in a book. If I see a shiny jacket flap or bright colors this may make the book more interesting to my eye. People and books have many things in common. When people are judged solely because of their outward appearance they are not given a fair chance. The interior of a person is what truly makes them beautiful, yet the opportunity to experience that beauty may be missed if we only let the outside tell the whole story. Books and people have a lot in common...the best ones are discovered when others take the time to see what is inside and only then do they get the true story.
